Emma Sinclair MBE shakes up VC structure with innovative new platform for tech entrepreneurs

Emma Sinclair MBE, co-founder of EnterpriseAlumni, has highlighted her commitment to championing tech entrepreneurs with her support for the latest review-based platform, Landscape. Sinclair has taken up a position on the advisory board of the platform, helping entrepreneur Joe Perkins develop the relevant software to help connect tech entrepreneurs with investors based on a ratings system akin to Glassdoor. Through her experience in creating her own corporate alumni network at EnterpriseAlumni, Sinclair will be able to offer expert advice on a project that promises to boost investment into UK tech start ups by connecting more entrepreneurs and investors in a meritocratic network.

Whereas traditional VC investment within the technology sector has been driven by personal connections, leading to the creation of tech hubs in places such as Palo Alto and London, Landscape offers a new investment model that will allow easier access for tech start-ups outside of traditional hubs. Given the rise of technology-based solutions in traditionally labour intensive sectors such as agriculture, Landscape’s platform will offer increased funding for projects that can have large-scale impacts on fundamental areas of the international economy. As there has been increased emphasis in many of these sectors to decarbonise production, the role of tech start-ups in meeting ambitious targets will only grow in the coming years. Therefore, a platform such as Landscape will be vital to ensuring that these start-ups have access to the funding they need to provide their technology-based solutions.

Emma Sinclair’s history of innovating through encouraging free entrepreneurship and networks of like-minded business people can provide an incredibly useful model for Landscape moving forward, as she not only has experience in dealing with the initial software configuration but also in the business development required to extend the platform’s reach. As the youngest person ever to take a company public on the London Stock Exchange, Sinclair can point to previous success in the investment market as prof of her ability to help companies reach their full potential, and her dynamic leadership style will certainly help Landscape continue to shake up the VC environment for years to come.

Ever since I was a little girl, my dream was to be the best tennis player in the world. Luck has nothing to do with being good at the sport. I have spent many, many hours… countless hours… on the court working for my one moment in time, not knowing when it would come but believing that it would.
